Both the Saluki men's and women's cross country teams have high expectations heading to the Missouri Valley Conference Championships at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday.

The Southern Illinois University men's cross country team has been picked to win the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Championship while the women have been chosen to finish third in the coaches pre-championship poll.

Saluki cross country competed among the best competition in the country at the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational on Saturday, where the men finished 16th out of 52 schools and the women finished 27th out of 49 teams.

Saluki cross country will make the trek to Indiana State for its Pre-National Invitational on Saturday, a final tuneup for SIU before the Missouri Valley Conference championship on Nov. 2.

Saluki cross country competed at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, where the women brought home yet another women's 5K title and the men finished 16th in a field comprised of eight national top-25 squads.

Saluki cross country will make the trek to the University of Notre Dame for the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday to begin the heart of its pre-conference championship schedule.
