The Saluki men's and women's track and field teams are respectively sitting in first and third place after Day One of the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the UNI-Dome.

Both the Saluki male and female track and field squads were picked to finish third at this weekend's Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by UNI, the Valley announced Wednesday.

Saluki senior thrower Curtis Wideman has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week, the Valley announced Tuesday. The Saluki men have won the field award each week this indoor season.

While most of the Saluki track and field team got the week off to rest for the MVC Indoor Championships next week, senior Curtis Wideman and a handful of other Salukis posted impressive outings at the Friday Night Special at Eastern Illinois.

While many will get the final week before the MVC Indoor Championships off to rest, a handful of Saluki track and field student-athletes are traveling up I-57 to Eastern Illinois on Friday for the Friday Night Special.
